Their is pleased to announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with The Artisanal Gold Council (AGC), the only non-profit exclusively devoted to serving the Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining sector.
The 10 million people working in this sector are responsible for 20% of the world's gold supply and comprise 90% of people working in gold mining today. And yet, until now, the jewelry and gold industry have done little to acknowledge these miners. Without support, these miners typically rely on mercury to refine their gold leading to 37% of manmade mercury pollution. The Minamata Convention, UN, the US State Department, Global Affairs Canada and many more believe it's time we engage with these miners to make mercury history. From today, for every item purchased we will donate $1 to the Artisanal Gold Council. If even a small portion of the jewelry and gold industry joined us in this pledge, we could drastically reduce or eliminate a major source of mercury pollution and improve the lives of 100 million people who depend on gold mining for their livelihood.
