Artisanal Gold Council delivers support for flood-ravaged areas to planetGOLD Mongolia small-scale gold mining project (WITH PHOTOS)

VICTORIA, BC – Victoria-based charity/nonprofit Artisanal Gold Council (AGC) has sent USD $2000 ($6,896,372 Mongolian Tugriks) as a donation to officials in Mandal Soum, Selenge Province, Mongolia, one of the organizations’ sites where we are installing Mercury Free Processing Systems (MFPS), after learning of massive flooding in the regions. AGC is providing this funding to its planetGOLD Mongolia project site to help provide fuel for emergency equipment and support vehicles providing restoration services to affected communities.

The recent floods in Mongolia have unleashed unprecedented devastation, leaving communities grappling with the loss of homes, livelihoods, and essential infrastructure. These natural disasters have severely impacted the region’s capacity to function efficiently, hindering the movement of goods and services and leaving many families in dire need of assistance.

In response to this situation, AGC’s Executive Director, Roger Tissot, expressed a deep sense of solidarity with Mongolia and the ASGM mining communities, saying, “Our hearts go out to the people of Mongolia, especially the resilient ASGM mining communities who have been profoundly affected by the floods. In these trying times, we stand shoulder to shoulder with them, providing financial and unwavering moral support. Together, we shall navigate through this adversity and emerge stronger.”

At the local level, National Project Manager Altanbagana Bayarsaikhan emphasized the urgency of providing fuel for emergency vehicles and the importance of collaboration during this critical time. “Ensuring the availability of fuel for emergency vehicles is paramount as it will facilitate rapid response and aid to the affected regions. Moreover, we are actively collaborating with local and provincial authorities and partners to address immediate needs and pave the way for a comprehensive recovery strategy.”
